Happy New Year! To quote one of my patients, “I think 2008 is going to be great!” At least it is going to be busy and exciting, with a lot of out of town events on the calendar. First, a Kundalini yoga retreat in Bali Feb 1 – 10, a major adventure considering that I have never traveled that far, or been gone that long for more than 10 years. I suspect that change in latitude is going to create some change in attitude!

Then, barely a week after our return, I am off to Seattle to speak at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle, for 2 presentations Feb 21 and 22 on Yoga for Gardeners and gardening injuries. I will also be reprising my Yoga for Gardeners talk at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show Mar 13. If you have not attended these shows before, I highly recommend it--tremendously well organized, and very high quality talks and exhibits. It will be difficult to keep that credit card inside your wallet…. Check out www.gardenshow.com

March 7 – 9 I will be attending the Second Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research in Los Angeles. I am becoming more involved with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and interested in different ways of using yoga therapeutically. It is one of my primary goals this year to figure out a way to reach more people with the incredible power of yoga.

The most exciting accomplishment so far for this year is that I have been accepted to speak in May at the 15th Annual Symposium on Functional Medicine conference “The Many Faces of Pain” in Carlsbad, CA. I will be giving 2 powerpoint presentations (!!)on yoga for pain management. As an old yoga student once said to me, “Gail, you always need a project!” (to stay motivated and energized besides the usual and routine), and this has definitely been up there insofar as effort and learning curve , although nothing could compare with making the RSI? Rx;Yoga! and Yoga for Gardeners DVDs…

So, we are just up to June 1 so far—who knows what the second half of 2008 will bring! In between all the excitement, let’s all not forget to breathe and “smell the roses”….

Namaste,
